Jan. 3, 2003 — The University of the Virgin Islands' Small Business Development Center will present a small business seminar entitled: "Time Management: An Introductory Program" on Monday, Jan. 13, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Center's training facility at Nisky Center, St. Thomas.
Admission to the seminar is $20. There is a $5 discount for those who pre-register and pay by 2 p.m. Jan. 10. UVI students, faculty and staff are admitted free, but pre-registration is required.
The seminar presenter is Frederick Handleman, Esquire.
The program provides instruction and guidance in the basics of managing the use of time and becoming more efficient and effective. Basic techniques that can be applied to make the use of time more productive are presented and explained in a manner both instructive and enjoyable, said a SDBC release. Examples and applications give the participants an opportunity to start managing their time right in the classroom. Throughout the program, participants are helped to adjust their attitudes toward the use and importance of time.
There are three main areas required for an effective time-management plan: making decisions, setting goals, and scheduling activities. Without all three ingredients, a plan to manage time will not be successful. The program provides guidance and motivation in applying the basics of these three areas to the participants' personal and professional needs.
