Dear Source,
I can completely understand the gentleman's frustration when it comes to the IRB. (See Don Bronsky's letter, A blue Christmas without tax refund.
I myself have called the V.I. Internal Revenue Bureau with the same results. "Your tax return has been processed; maybe you will get your refund in time for Christmas," the woman said. I sent mine in February.
My situation is different: I have not worked since Nov. 15th, have applied for unemployment also and have not received a check as of Dec. 30, only to find out office is being renovated and will not be back in operation until Jan 7th. By that time my rent and all my bills will have been due. So I just wanted the gentleman to know that he is not alone and that things could be much worse.
I would also like to say it is more frustrating to not get answers from these government offices than to not have received the money that is owed.
No Christmas.
