ON THE PASSING OF CULTURE BEARER LOUISA KEAN

Dear Source,
Through this medium we wish to express our gratitude for the cultural contribution of Ms. Louisa Kean, who departed from among us this past week.
Ms. Kean was a talented artist and Culture Bearer whose contribution gave special luster to the Folklife Festival on the Mall in Washington and at the re-staging of the program on St. Croix. She earned the admiration and respect of our audiences through both the quality of her work and the warmth and sensitivity of her presentations. Even at her advanced age at the time of the festivals, barely a decade ago, Ms. Kean proved to be a competent, informed and entertaining presenter.
The Summer Institute of Virgin Islands Culture (SIVIC) extends condolences to the Kean family on behalf of a grateful community of culture lovers at home and abroad.
Gilbert A. Sprauve, Director of the Institute
