BRING IN OFF-ISLAND LAW ENFORCEMENT

Dear Source:
The passionate and well-written letter by Ronald V. Davis reinforced my belief in something I have long thought to be true, the Virgin Islands needs to call on someone from off-island who has true law enforcement skills to come to the territory and clean it up. The problems that plague the islands would simply not be tolerated anywhere else. The apathy that exists simply would not exist anywhere else in the face of such violence and lawlessness. Police departments all over the United States are being led by exemplary officers such as Mr. Davis, and we in the Virgin Islands need that kind of leadership to restore order and a safe community for all who live, work and vacation here. I am well-acquainted with the pervasive belief that every position of leadership must be filled with someone who lives "on-island", but the plain truth is that it is simply not working. I wonder if Mr. Davis would like to take a year or so to return to his home and clean up the corrupt, ineffective law enforcement that is letting our island be taken over by the criminal element????? I bet it wouldn't take that long. I hope and pray that we will elect a governor who has the courage and vision to make some tough decisions for the good of us all.
