Oct. 17, 2002 – Blue Turtle Gallery in downtown Charlotte Amalie has reopened this month with new art and a new look.
After a month-long painting sabbatical, owner Lucinda Schutt is back in the gallery on Government Hill displaying her latest watercolors, oils and acrylics. Her subject matter comprises island scenes and vistas of Upstate New York's Hudson Valley area, where she spent a week in September painting with a former watercolor student.
Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
The new season also brings a new logo developed by MLBCreative to revise the image of the gallery. "The new image is upscale, yet fun," Schutt says. The pastel hues depict an abstract turtle and are a hint of the colors that await within the Blue Turtle.
During October and November, Schutt also is offering watercolor classes from 9 to 11 a.m. each Saturday at the gallery and from 1:30 to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at the Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas Resort. For details, call the gallery at 774-9440. For additional information and images, visit the Blue Turtle Gallery Web site.
