BARGE SERVICE FREE FOR DAVID SANBORN CONCERT

Oct. 15, 2002 – If the only thing that's keeping you from getting tickets to Saturday's season-opener concert at the Reichhold Center for the Arts — Grammy Award-winning jazz saxophonist David Sanborn and his band — is the cost of transportation to and from St. Thomas, you can call for reservations right now.
Republic Barge Service has come forward to partner with the Reichhold Center by providing free car-ferry transportation from Cruz Bay to Red Hook and back aboard the Captain Vic.
Barge reservations are required, and at least 10 vehicles must sign on by Friday in order for the service to be a "go." You can reserve your concert tickets and your space on the Captain Vic all with one telephone call, to the Reichhold box office at 693-1559.
You also can order concert tickets online at the Reichhold box office Web site; to reserve space on the barge, enter that information in the "Comments or Special Requests" box at the bottom of the order form. (Follow up with a phone call next day to be sure your information has been received and processed.)
There's still time to order season tickets and take advantage of discounted prices, too. The Foundation Series consists of all seven concerts. The Choose-Your-Own Series lets patrons pick the five or six concerts of their choice. For details, visit the Reichhold Web site and see the Source season preview, 7 concerts on tap for 2002-03 Reichhold season.
The barge will depart the Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, with the Sanborn concert on the University of the Virgin Islands campus scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. The return from Red Hook will be directly after the performance.
Initial promotions offered the barge service for $30 round trip. Anyone who purchased tickets on that basis "will receive a credit toward future travel package offers," according to a release from the Reichhold Center.
Singles tickets for the Sanborn concert are $65 in the A (covered) section, $40 in the B (lower open-air) section and $25 in the C (upper open-air) section. Those prices for the A and B seats are discounted $5 from the general admission prices.
