June 9, 2002 – The Law Enforcement Planning Commission has awarded four grants totaling $70,000 to support summer programs that promote juvenile delinquency prevention in the Virgin Islands, according to a release from the Office of the Governor..
Eddy L. Charles, drug policy advisor to Gov. Charles W. Turnbull, said the funds will go to Ricardo Richards Elementary Summer School Program, the V.I. Resource Center for the Disabled Inc. summer program, the V.I. Police Department Juvenile Bureau Violence Diversionary Wrap program, and the St. Thomas Baseball Explorers program.
Charles said these dynamic programs will expose young people to skills in cultural arts and development, technology, baseball fundamentals, educational enhancements, responsibility building and crime/drug prevention.
