November 11, 2001 Bluebeard's Castle Hotel Towne Hall will be the scene of a celebrity Karaoke Friday evening at 9 p.m., right after Miracle on Main Street ends.
Admission is $10 in advance, $15 at the door.
A bidding war is expected as three senators Almando "Rocky" Liburd, Roosevelt St. Clair David and Adlah "Foncie" Donastorg, face off against each other to be "sold" at the highest bid to sing.
Radio personalities Robert Luke and Kishma Venzen will also face a "radio personalities" contest.
Vinnie Mohanani is another celebrity karaoke singer, according to a release.
Sam Topp will be master of ceremonies and auctioneer, and may join the celebrities on bid, as well.
There will be a cash bar, free hors d'oeuvres, and prizes for the best non-celebrity performers. So all are invited to bring singing voice, bidding dollars, and expectation for lots of fun and laughs.
Advance tickets are available at Petit Pump Room and at the All Saints Cathedral School office.
The event is a benefit fund-raiser for the capital development fund at All Saints Cathedral School. People still recall last year, said the release, "when Mrs. [Louise]Brady sang for a cool $800 and the Bishop also fetched a handsome price."
