HILL CALLS MEETING ON SAVAN CENTER FOR FRIDAY

Conflicts surrounding the operations of the Savan Multi-Purpose Center will be discussed at a meeting called by St. Thomas/Water Island Administrator Louis P. Hill for 5:30 p.m. Friday in his office on Government Hill.
Hill has invited Officer Kenneth Blake, director of the Crime Prevention Bureau which oversees the Police Athletic League, and representatives of the We Savaneros association and the Department of Housing, Parks and Recreation to meet in hopes of reaching a mutual agreement on the use of the facility. No one is occupying the premises now.
The facility has been leased to the PAL to have a police presence in the high crime neighborhood, and create opportunities for Savan youths. The We Savaneros association has expressed concern about how the building is to be used.
Hill said anyone interested in additional information on the meeting should call his office at 774-0001, ext. 4342.
