ST. THOMAS MAN KILLED IN MOTORCYCLE MISHAP

A 28-year-old St. Thomas man was killed in a motorcycle accident on Veterans Drive highway shortly after 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
Winston "Malik" Leonard died of multiple injuries after attempts to keep him alive at the scene of the accident and in the Schneider Hospital emergency room failed, according to Deputy Police Chief Theodore Carty.
The accident occurred in the westbound lanes across from the Holiday Inn Windward Passage Hotel when Leonard's Suzuki motorcycle hit the curb and collided into the concrete base of a street light.
A police investigation is ongoing; some eyewitnesses at the scene said it appeared that Leonard may have been momentarily distracted and lost control of the motorcycle. The bike was found about 200 yards away from where he fell. St. Thomas Rescue officers and emergency medical technicians found Leonard in full cardiac arrest at the scene.
Leonard was a former educator at All Saints School and most recently an instructor and general manager at America's Paradise Gym in Nisky Shopping Center. He reportedly was a graduate of Antilles School and had resided for a time in Atlanta.
