UVI, CHASE PARTNER TO OFFER NEW VISA CARD

The University of the Virgin Islands and its Alumni Association are pleased to announce a partnership with Chase Manhattan Bank and VISA © International. The partnership provides an opportunity for UVI alumni, faculty, staff, graduate students and students in their senior year to apply for a special Chase Affinity VISA card.
A portion of all purchases made through this VISA card will benefit UVI and its Alumni Association. UVI constituents in the targeted group will be supporting the University through the same process by which they now use a credit card.
"This program is a way of giving back to our alma mater," said Deanna Rogers, '85/'87, president of the UVI Alumni Association. "It's another project to help alumni become aware of their responsibility to the University. Use of this card is saying thanks for the education we received that gave us the tools to apply for top level jobs."
Chase Manhattan Bank approached the Alumni Association about a special alumni VISA card. An agreement, which broadened the potential applicants to faculty, staff and students, was eventually formulated. The specially designed card provides a constant marketing opportunity for UVI, since it will feature the UVI name and logo, as well as the CHASE and VISA brand identities.
"The UVI Chase VISA Affinity program is win-win for everyone — the University, the community and Chase," said Cassan Pancham, Chase general manager.
The partnership provides for UVI and the Alumni Association to receive 100 percent of the annual $25 membership fee and 25 percent of the monthly card purchases. There are additional benefits to having the UVI Chase VISA card, as explained in a mailing being sent out by Chase Manhattan Bank, along with applications for the UVI Chase VISA card.
