REICHHOLD HAS BERES HAMMOND TRAVEL PACKAGES

Special travel arrangements are available for reggae fans on St. Croix and in the British Virgin Islands who would like to attend the Beres Hammond concert on Saturday, March 3, at the Reichhold Center for the Arts on St. Thomas.
For those who will be traveling from St. Croix, a $259 package covers round-trip airfare via Seaborne Airlines seaplane, March 3 overnight hotel accommodations at Point Pleasant Resort, a ticket to the concert and ground transportation both ways between the seaplane and the hotel, and between the hotel and the concert.
The package price for individuals, with a single-occupancy room and one concert ticket, is $259. For couples, with double occupancy and two concert tickets, the price is $208 per person, a total of $416 together. For details, telephone 340-693-1563.
The BVI travel package, priced at $57 per person, covers round-trip transportation on Smith's Ferry and shuttle service from the St. Thomas waterfront terminal to the concert and back. A special return ferry for package purchasers will depart St. Thomas at midnight after the concert. The package price does not include a concert ticket. However, tickets, which are $28 for all seats, can be purchased at the Smith's Ferry office in Road Town. For further information, call 284-494-4454.
Concert tickets at the Reichhold box office and the other usual outlets on St. Thomas and St. John are also $28 for all seats in the house – a reduction from the $30 price published at the start of the 2000-2001 season.
Hammond, one of Jamaica's enduring reggae stars, was greatly influenced by r&b and jazz, as well as ska/reggae. He came to prominence in the 1970s as lead singer with Zap Pow, then in the '80s founded the vocal quintet Tuesday's Children. In the early '90s, he won dancehall acclaim with his hit single "Tempted to Touch" and his album "Love Affair." His well-received CDs since then include "In Control" (1994), "Love from a Distance" (1996), "Day in the Life" (1998) and "Reggae Max" (2000).
Further information about the concert can be found on the Reichhold web site at www.reichholdcenter.com. Additional details about Seaborne Airlines is available online at www.seaborneairlines.com.
