Prosecutors have yet to file the information containing charges against Ian Tracy in connection with the shooting death of Adassa Rolle on Dec. 31, and Territorial Court Judge Audrey Thomas-Francis has given them until Thursday.
At Tracy's arraignment Thursday, the prosecutors had asked for three more weeks. Tracy, 19, was arrested Jan. 8 on charges of first-degree murder and weapons violations.
Tracy is a former honors student and senior class president at Antilles School. At his probable cause hearing Jan. 9, police said his description of what happened on the night of the murder did not correspond with evidence found in the vehicle Tracy said he and Rolle, 18, were sitting in that night. No weapon has been recovered in the case.
Treston Moore, who is representing Tracy, told the Virgin Islands Daily News that forensic evidence could well corroborate Tracy's account of events. He said that Tracy has adamantly insisted on his innocence and has continued to cooperate with investigators in the case.
Tracy is free on $300,000 bail. His arraignment has been rescheduled for Thursday.
