STARFEST7 AUDITIONS SET FOR JAN. 27 AND 28

It's talent try-out time again for STARfest, the annual Reichhold Center for the Arts showcase of Virgin Islands song, dance, comedy and more.
This Mother's Day weekend will bring the seventh annual STARfest, with performances Saturday and Sunday, May 12 and 13.
That may seem like a long ways off, but for Reichhold theater and STARfest director David Edgecombe and his staff, work on the show is already under way. One of the first steps is to assess the caliber of local talent available to take part.
Auditions will be held Saturday, Jan. 27, at 2 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 28, at 10 a.m. at the theater, located on the St. Thomas campus of the University of the Virgin Islands. Finalists will be notified by Feb. 4, according to a Reichhold release.
Singers, dancers, musicians and comedians are encouraged to try out. STARfests 1 through 6 have featured mainly vocalists – but spanning a wide range of styles, including pop, gospel, rhythm & blues, reggae, rap and more.
In addition to their own talent offerings, STARfest performers participate in group numbers involving singing and choreography. Candidates must be able to commit to an intense rehearsal schedule in the last few weeks preceding the show.
Those wishing to try out should bring completed entry forms to the audition. Forms can be picked up at the Charlotte Amalie and Eudora Kean High Schools, Parrot Fish Music, Modern Music and Krystal & Gifts Galore. Further information may be obtained by calling Cindy Rollins at the Reichhold office, at 693-1550.
