ROHN TO HELP ‘CHUCKY’ HANSEN OPEN DOORS IN D.C.

As the 24th Legislature’s liaison to the White House, Sen. Alicia "Chucky" Hansen could find herself knocking on a few doors in Washington, D.C.
But in case her knuckles get tired, Hansen has enlisted some help from another outspoken fixture on St. Croix, attorney Lee Rohn.
This past weekend, Hansen said the flamboyant, tough talking lawyer will "help me open doors in Washington . . . particularly with the office of the secretary of the Interior."
Rohn will be compensated $1 a year for her efforts, enough, Hansen said, to qualify the lawyer as a staff member authorized to research and seek information.
"Lee Rohn does not need a salary," Hansen said. "She didn’t ask me and I didn’t offer."
Meanwhile, Hansen, who is also the new chairwoman of the Senate Finance Committee, defended her choice of Maureen Rabsatt Cullar as acting post auditor of the 24th Legislature. As the executive director of the 23rd Legislature, Cullar had to trouble shoot problems with the Post Audit Division’s computer system, Hansen said. That is a task she is again grappling with.
"The system is down," Hansen said. "It’s unfortunate we have to start from scratch."
Hansen also pointed out that while Cullar isn’t a certified public accountant, as her predecessor Campbell Malone was, previous post auditors haven’t carried CPA credentials.
Cullar holds an MBA from the University of the Virgin Islands and also served in the Finance and Property and Procurement departments under former Gov. Alexander Farrelly.
