'CIVIL AIR PATROL WEEK' PROCLAIMED IN V.I.

Gov. Charles W. Turnbull has proclaimed the week of Dec. 3 "Civil Air Patrol Week" in honor of the emergency services group that assists in search-and-rescue operations, disaster relief and other noncombat missions.
The Civil Air Patrol was re-established on St. Thomas in 1973 and has worked closely with the V.I. Territorial Emergency Management Agency, the police and the Carnival Committee to help maintain order during local parades, emergencies and community functions.
