UVI Registration continues for Spring 2001 semester
The UVI Office of the Registrar is advising returning students that registration for the Spring 2001 semester is taking place now through Wednesday, Nov. 15. New students will register in January. Course schedules for the spring can be obtained in the Registrar’s Offices on the St. Thomas and St. Croix campuses. On St. Thomas, undergraduate registration ends on Monday, Nov. 13. On St. Thomas, graduate and part-time students register on Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 14 and 15. On St. Croix, graduate students register on Thursday, Nov. 9 while undergraduate registration continues through Nov. 15. For a more detailed schedule, please contact the registrar’’s office on St. Thomas at 693-1150 and on St.Croix at 692-4158.
UVI hosts St. Thomas-St. John Agriculture and Food Fair
The 19th annual St. Thomas-St. John Agriculture and Food Fair will be held Nov. 11 and 12 on the grounds of UVI’s Reichhold Center for the Arts. The theme for this year is "Healthy Farms, Healthy Children, Healthy Future." There will be plants, fruits, vegetables, food, arts and crafts, educational displays and entertainment for all ages. Admission for adults is $2, and 50 cents for children under 12. For more information call 774-5182 or 693-1080.
Puerto Rico Symphony and Rising Stars at Reichhold
Back by popular demand, the 80-piece Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra will perform at the Reichhold Center for the Arts on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 8 p.m. Joining the orchestra is the prized VI Rising Stars youth steel orchestra. This is a Birch Forum/Reichhold co-production. For tickets, call the Reichhold Center Box Office at 693-1599.
Reichhold Center features Shenandoah Shakespeare Express
Love, sex, violence, controversy and laughter take center stage as Shenandoah Shakespeare Express brings classic Shakespearean and Elizabethan theater to the Reichhold Center for the Arts on November 17-19 at 8 p.m. The group will perform "Othello"Nov. 17, "Twelfth Night" on Nov. 18 and "Roaring Girl" by Elizabethan playwrights Thomas Middleton and Thomas Dekker on Sunday, Nov. 19. Call the Reichhold Center Box Office at 693-1559 to reserve your ticket.
UVI Theatre presents "Godspell"
It's showtime again at UVI. The exciting musical "Godspell" opens Friday, Dec. 1, with a 2 p.m. matinee on Dec. 2 and evening performances on Dec. 3 and 4. "Godspell" is a modern-day version of the gospels, opening with John the Baptist calling a disparate group of young New Yorkers from their workday lives to follow and learn from Jesus. These young people form a roving acting troupe that enacts the parables through song and dance, comedy and mime. The four performances are being staged in the UVI Little Theatre at 8 p.m. SHARP! Tickets are still the reasonable rate of $5 for students and $10 for general admission and will go on sale Friday, Nov. 10. Tickets can be purchased at the UVI Humanities Building, the UVI Bookstore, Nisky Pharmacy, Education Station and Dockside Bookstore. This is a family show, so come on out and enjoy!
