TWO ARRESTED IN ESTATE PROFIT BEATING DEATH

Two men have been arrested in the weekend beating death of a 56-year-old man following a hit-and-run accident on the Melvin Evans Highway.
Arrested for the Sunday night murder of George Glasgow were Alberto Rosa, 28, and Victor Ramos, 20, according to St. Croix Deputy Police Chief Novelle Francis. Francis said that police received a call at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday of two men assaulting a third with a stick and a machete outside the Estate Profit Bar.
When police arrived they found Glasgow seriously wounded. He was transported to Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:05 p.m. Francis said witnesses identified Rosa, of Estate Whim, and Ramos, of Estate Diamond Ruby, as the assailants.
The incident apparently started when the car Rosa was driving, in which Ramos was a passenger, collided with Glasgow’s truck the Evans Highway. Francis said that Rosa failed to stop and Glasgow followed them to Estate Profit.
Initial reports said Glasgow confronted Rosa and Ramos with a bat and in the ensuing scuffle he had it taken away and used against him. Police gave no explanation about the use of the machete.
Both Rosa and Ramos were arrested and charged with second-degree murder and are being held on $75,000 bail each, Francis said.
Glasgow’s murder is the 16th this year in the territory, seven on St. Croix and nine on St. Thomas.
