CORPSE FOUND ON ABANDONED BOAT

A partially decomposed body was found Sunday on an abandoned boat near Perseverance Bay.
Police said the "unidentifiable" body was found in a sitting position inside a storage container on the vessel that had been aground near the bay on St. Thomas's west coast since Hurricane Marilyn.
A statement from police spokeswoman Sgt. Annette Raimer said forensics officers and detectives from the Investigation Bureau had not ruled out foul play and could not do so without further investigation.
It was estimated the body had been in the container for about two weeks. There was no identification on the body, which was clad only in "discolored short pants."
The release did not give the name of the vessel.
Anyone with information on the identification of the body is asked to call the Police Investigation Bureau at 774-4050.
