SUSPECT IN FOILED ROBBERY SHOT IN HEAD

A robbery suspect was shot in the head by his would-be victim during a reported armed robbery that was foiled Friday afternoon at the Good Luck Grocery in Nadir.
WSTA Radio reported that the suspect entered the store around 4 p.m. and pistol-whipped the store attendant while demanding money. The employee reportedly retrieved a handgun and fired, shooting the suspect in the head.
According to reports, both men were transported to the hospital, where the robbery suspect was said to be in critical condition. He was expected to undergo surgery, sources said Friday evening.
Police investigators remained at the scene interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence.
V.I. police have not commented on the case, but more than likely will appeal to anyone with information to contact investigators at 774-4050 or police emergency 911.
