2 DAYS OF MOURNING DECLARED FOR THOMPSON

Gov. Charles W. Turnbull has declared that flags in the territory will fly at half-staff from sunrise Friday to sunset Saturday in honor of Harold Thompson Jr., who died earlier this week.
The late Public Works commissioner had earlier undergone surgery in Puerto Rico for a brain tumor.
Turnbull praised Thompson, who he said "will be remembered for his dedicated service, decency, civility and love for the people of the territory."
Thompson will lie in state at Government House in St. Croix from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Saturday. Services will be held at St. John's Anglican Church in Christiansted at 1 p.m., followed by burial in Kingshill Cemetery.
