RACE FOR DELEGATE SPOT LEFT TO INCUMBENT

While not expected to face any great challenges by her opponents in the race for Delegate to Congress, incumbent Donna Christian Christensen now is running totally unopposed.
According to Supervisor of Elections John Abramson Jr., Christensen’s two opponents, former delegate Victor Frazer and Jorge Estemac, have asked for their nomination petitions to be withdrawn.
Frazer, an independent candidate, withdrew his election bid on Aug. 29, while Estemac, who was running under the Independent Citizens Movement flag, did so Monday, Abramson said.
Estemac said internal party problems convinced him to pull out of the race. Frazer couldn’t be reached for comment.
Christensen unseated Frazer after his first and only term in 1996 and then beat him handily in the 1998 election.
While the challengers are now out of the race, Abramson said their names will still be on ballots in the Nov. 7 general election because they didn’t withdraw before the Aug. 13 deadline to do so.
