MARIENDAHL KIDNAP VICTIM FOUND UNHARMED

The victim of an alleged drug-related kidnapping in Mariendahl on Aug. 31 has been located, according to the FBI.
As a federal government investigation continues into the crime, FBI Sr. Supervisory Resident Agent James Judd said Tuesday the victim was not injured during the incident, in which two men are alleged to have kidnapped him outside his home at No. 10-18 Mariendahl.
"The victim is safe, he is not on-island and that's about all I can say at this point," Judd said.
He said the suspects posed as FBI agents when they first made contact with the victim's wife, Jenovia Simmonds. Officials declined to release the victim's name.
Deputy Police Chief Theodore Carty said the morning after the incident that Simmonds told police two men came to her residence and asked about picking up drugs. When she told them she had no idea what they were talking about, they asked for her husband.
When her husband came out of the house, he was quickly forced into a vehicle by the two suspects.
The V.I. Safe Streets Task Force, comprised of local police, FBI agents, U.S. Marshals and other law enforcement officials, has assumed the primary role in the investigation.
Judd urged anyone with additional information on the case to contact the task force at 776-9440 or the FBI office at 777-3363.
