LOCKHART, ARTHUR WIN LABOR DAY 5K

Lawrence Lockhart, at 17 minutes and 16 seconds, and Earthla Arthur, at 23 minutes and 56 seconds, were unchallenged in claiming their victories in the running of the 17th Labor Day 5K Road Race on Monday. The point-to-point course from Southgate to Christiansted, provided ideal conditions for the early morning run.
The next event on the V.I. Pace Runners Schedule is the CoastWeeks Beach Relay at Ha Penny Beach on Oct. 7. This two-person relay race will be on the beach with each runner completing approximately two miles or running up and down the beach.
Coastweeks is celebrated annually as an activity for local groups, clubs and school to organize and conduct shoreline and underwater cleanups International Coastal Cleanup. The project is coordinated locally by the Virgin Islands Marine Advisory Service of the University of the Virgin Islands and internationally by the Center for Marine Conservation.
