ALL V.I. SEAPORTS CLOSED UNTIL STORM PASSES

As of 5 p.m Monday the seaports in the Virgin Islands were officially closed, due to the approach of Tropical Storm Debby. However, the Cruz Bay and Red Hook ferry docks were to remain open until 8 p.m. to accommodate resident commuters.
In a release, Port Authority executive director Gordon Finch issued a directive for all vessels over 200 tons to leave the ports by 8 p.m. After that, it said, the Cruz Bay and Red Hook docks would be open only for emergencies.
Saying that "the Port Authority will try to keep the public abreast of the latest information" on the the storm, the release advised the public to call the VIPA hotline at 714-6642 and visit the Port Authority website at www.viport.com for updated information.
