Environmental Association Offers Variety of St. Croix Hiking Tours
Adventurous and environmentally conscious travelers will enjoy guided hiking tours of the island with the St. Croix Environmental Association. A hike to a different location is offered daily. On Mondays, explore the spectacular areas and flora and fauna of Mount Victory and the semi-tropical rainforest; on Tuesdays, journey through the semi-tropical rainforest at Caledonia; on Wednesdays see Estate Mount Washington and Butler Bay; and on Fridays, take a trip through the Salt River National Park. New St. John Ecotour Operator Provides Guided Excursions
A new tour operator on St. John offers visitors guided, adventure-packed excursions in America's Caribbean. Natural Adventures St. John, Inc. offers three educational trips. The two-hour tour includes an hour-long snorkeling session with lessons on coral reef ecology, botany, island geology and birding. The Early Bird Special, a 1 ½½-hour bird-watching tour, focuses solely on seabirds. Guests can also listen to the sounds of fish, dolphins and whales (when they are in season) through a hydrophone carried on the tour boat. Experience "Caribbean Carnival" at St. Thomas Hotel
Marriott Frenchman's Reef will host a mini-festival and food extravaganza during its "Caribbean Carnival" at the hotel's Sunset Grill, on Tuesdays from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Guests will enjoy the Northstars Pan Ensemble, "Bull" the fire-eater, a limbo contest, and more. St. Thomas' Wyndham Sugar Bay Offers Meeting Planners "Twice the Paradise"
Now through December 15, 2000, St. Thomas' Wyndham Sugar Bay Beach Club & Resort is offering meeting planners "Twice the Paradise" for meetings booked at the resort. The offer includes coach airfare reimbursement for a site inspection, 25,000 airline miles, a complimentary one-hour welcome reception for meeting attendees and one complimentary guestroom and suite upgrade for every 50 rooms booked. Total meeting participants must occupy at least 100 room nights, and the site inspection must be completed before December 15, 2000. Bonus airline miles are awarded from any of Wyndham's 10 airline partners. Wyndham will provide 50,000 bonus airline miles towards the planning of the meeting. Planners may exchange airline miles for a $500 credit to the event's master account for any program held in 2001 and later, or a $1,000 credit if the event is held prior to December 15, 2000. In the unlikely event that severe weather interferes with a group meeting or incentive program between now and November 30, 2000, the Wyndham Sugar Bay Beach Club & Resort will provide a complete refund of all deposits. Miss Lucy's Restaurant Boasts Scrumptious Caribbean Cuisine and "Full Moon Parties"
Vacationers wanting a true taste of Caribbean-style cuisine should visit Miss Lucy's Restaurant located seaside at Friis Bay on St. John. During the "full moon parties," try roasted pig or freshly caught wahoo served along with such local trimmings as pigeon peas and rice, sweet potato stuffing, okra, fungi, plantains and sautééed vegetables to complete a meal priced at $10.
