4TH SUSPECT ARRESTED IN TAXI DRIVER'S MURDER

A fourth suspect has been arrested in the November 1999 robbery and stabbing death of gypsy-cab driver Duvalier Basquin. Deputy Police Chief Theodore Carty said 21-year-old Ottic Bryan was arrested Thursday in Broward County, Fla., on a state-issued warrant.
Bryan and three other suspects are alleged to have caught a ride at Rothschild Francis "Market" Square with Duvalier, asking him to take them to the Bolongo Bay area. Once there, they allegedly held him at knifepoint, robbed him and stabbed him to death.
Carty said Bryan is the last of the suspects wanted in Basquin's killing, and his extradition is pending. "He was arrested by the Fugitive Task Force which includes officers of the VIPD Major Crime Unit and FBI agents working alongside a fugitive squad in Florida," Carty said.
Bryan was formally charged with first-degree murder, principal to murder, first-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.
In other police action, police have classified as second-degree rape or statutory rape an incident where an adult male was found in the bedroom of a pre-teen girl Saturday morning. The incident was reported by the girl's mother, who told police the man was hiding in her daughter's clothes closet. "The girl underwent a medical examination at the Schneider Hospital which revealed no signs of force or injury," Carty said.
Police are asking for information on the whereabouts of a 15-year-old girl who ran away from her parents' Kirwan Terrace home last week. Shanique "Nikki" King is described by police as having a dark complexion and a space between her front teeth. Anyone with information should contact the VIPD juvenile unit at 774-5880.
