In case you hadn't noticed, the time is ripe to "Jump Up and Sway, it's Carnival for Y2K."
Here's the entertainment line-up for the final four days of V.I. Carnival 2000:
WEDNESDAY, May 3
Food Fair honoring Edna Rojas — Rothschild Francis "Market" Square (food, drinks and plants for sale)
8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but mainly late morning to mid-afternoon
Children's Village — Fort Christian parking lot (rides, games, food, drinks, toys)
3 p.m. – 1 a.m.
Brownie Ville (Carnival Village) — food, drinks, live music by the Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School Burning Blazers steelband, The Plus, P'Your Passion, China Dan
5:30 p.m. – 1 a.m.
THURSDAY, May 4
J'Ouvert Warm-up — Fort Christian parking lot and throughout downtown
12:30 a.m. (this being Wednesday night) to 4 a.m.
J'Ouvert — Veterans Drive
4 a.m. to around 7:30 a.m.
Arts & Crafts Fair honoring Justin Todman — Emancipation Garden
10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Children's Village — Fort Christian parking lot (rides, games, food, drinks, toys)
3 p.m. – 1 a.m.
Brownie Ville (Carnival Village) — food, drinks, live music by Ah We and Imaginations Brass
5:30 p.m. – 1 a.m.
V.I. Calypso Competition — Lionel Roberts Stadium
Vying for the 2000 V.I. Carnival Calypso Monarch title are: Devon, Foncie, Happy, Incredible Shark, King Kan Fu Plentae, Mighty Pat, Pat Raggy, Princess Roselyn, 1998 king Ras Regg, Super T and defending 1999 king Whadablee (with Renegade and Trash Row as alternates).
8 p.m. until (tickets $12 in advance, $15 at the gate)
FRIDAY, May 5
Children's Parade — Rothschild Francis "Market" Square to Lionel Roberts Stadium
10 a.m. to around 2 p.m.
Children's Village — Fort Christian parking lot (rides, games, food, drinks, toys)
1 p.m. – 1 a.m.
Brownie Ville (Carnival Village) — food, drinks, live music by Xpress Band, Vio International
5:30 p.m. – 1 a.m.
SATURDAY, May 6
Adults Parade — Western Cemetery to Lionel Roberts Stadium
10 a.m. to around 7 p.m.
Children's Village — Fort Christian parking lot (rides, games, food, drinks, toys)
1 p.m. – midnight
Brownie Ville Last Lap (Carnival Village) — food, drinks, live music by Milo's Kings (6 p.m.), Positive Image (after the fireworks)
5:30 p.m. – 1 a.m.
Fireworks "Thunder Over Charlotte Amalie" — St. Thomas harbor
9 p.m. sharp
