Partners for Health is hosting a pre-Mother's Day benefit luncheon aboard the Grandeur of the Seas while the cruise ship is in port at St. Thomas on Wednesday, May 10.
The deadline for reserving tickets is Monday, May 1.
Guests will be escorted aboard the vessel at the West Indian Company dock for a brief pre-Mother's Day program in the South Pacific Lounge, where bar service will be available by credit card only. After that, the visitors will be seated in the Great Gatsby Dining Room for a lunch featuring a menu of appetizer, salad, entree, dessert and non-alcoholic beverage options selected in advance by Partners for Health planners.
The Great Gatsby salon, which features an elaborate Art Deco design, is the ship's largest formal dining room. The entree choices are shank of lamb, trout amondine and a jerk chicken sandwich.
"It's an opportunity to treat your mother to something really special this year for Mother's Day, and support a deserving cause at the same time," event committee member Cheryl Thompson said.
Partners for Health for many years has raised money in the community to purchase medical equipment for the Roy L. Schneider Hospital.
Royal Caribbean International V.I. manager Judith Slosky facilitated the Parners function. "I am delighted to coordinate local functions both aboard our ships and at our Crown & Anchor Club in Hibiscus Alley," she said. She arranged for Partners members to visit the Grandeur while it was in port recently and even sample luncheon options before making their menu selections for the May 10 event.
Tickets for the Partners luncheon are $40, and they must be purchased by Monday, May 1, Thompson emphasized. "Because of the need to make security arrangements, they cannot be purchased after that date," she said. Partners will have tickets delivered upon request, event committee chair Gerda Gottlieb said. Those attending the luncheon must carry both their tickets and photo identification cards with them to the ship on the day of the event. Boarding will be at 11 a.m. sharp.
