SHOOTING AND RAPE MAR THE WEEKEND

An unidentified man is in stable condition at the Roy L. Schneider Hospital following emergency surgery for at least two gunshot wounds to the neck.
The shooting took place in the Coki Point beach area late Saturday afternoon.
Reportedly, the victim initially told police that his assailant was a man driving a red pickup truck. The victim provided little other information to police investigators.
Police are asking anyone with information on the shooting to contact them at 774-4050 or emergency 911.
In other police news, a 30-year-old man is in custody on statutory rape
charges following an incident at a Contant home Saturday morning.
Frankie Anderson of New York was charged Saturday afternoon with second-degree rape and placed on $25,000 bail.
Police sources say Anderson and his victim were friends and had been out partying until early Saturday morning when they ended up at the victim's home. There, Anderson made sexual advances to the woman, who turned him down.
The police investigation reportedly revealed that despite the woman declining Anderson's advances, he pressured her and proceeded to have sex with her.
