The much-talked-about meeting of the Senate Finance Committee where senators were hoping to learn further details of the government's fiscal condition has been put off until April 19.
It was scheduled for Thursday, and was to have featured testimony from the administration's top fiscal officers as well as outside financial consultants of the government.
Sen. Lorraine L. Berry, who chairs the committee, said Government House was simply not prepared to present all who were requested to testify and requested the delay.
She said several key testifiers, including the government's bond counsel, could not be available Thursday. Berry said the Finance Committee wants to learn how proceeds from the proposed WAPA partnership with Southern Energy would play into the government's cash flow as the Legislature prepares to consider related matters.
The committee will now hear from the administration the day after hearing from the firm contracted by the Interior Department to put forth a five-year fiscal
management plan. CORE International will testify April 18 along with the governor's economic recovery task force. The two groups are expected to disclose the details of a long-range fiscal recovery plan.
