CUB SCOUTS HOLD AUTO RACES AT TUTU MALL

It might not be NASCAR , but there was plenty of auto racing excitement Saturday morning, as Cub Scouts from St. Thomas and St. John raced each other in the Cub Scout Pinewood Derby at Tutu Park Mall.
Boys worked with their parents or another adult to design and create a small car from a block of wood.
There were sleek racing shapes, a car with a stuffed toy turtle as a driver and even a HUMVEE from the National Guard.
Family members and mall visitors soon got into the excitement and cheered on all the participants.
Thanks to the West Indian Company Limited the Scouts had a brand new track. The event was sponsored by Community Motors and hosted by Tutu Park Mall.
At the end of a lot of exciting racing the winners were proclaimed:
Tiger Cub Division
First Place – Mitchell Turnbull
Second Place – Jacqueal Kennings
Third Place – Mellik Sylvester
Cub Scout Division
First Place – Alex Makohonjuk
Second Place – Spencer Consolvo
Third Place – Matthew Berry

Webelos Division
First Place – Micah Arnold
Second Place – Zachary Riley
Third Place – Michael Quetel
Overall Winners
First Place – Alex Makohonjuk
Second Place – Micah Arnold
Third Place – Mitchell Turnbull
