BERRY HAS TO TURN TEENS AWAY FROM SEX SYMPOSIUM

Sexual abstinence, it appears, is a topic of considerable interest to local high school students.
Sen. Lorraine Berry announced Friday afternoon that only those students who have pre-registered to attend her Youth Symposium on the topic Saturday at Marriott's Frenchman's Reef Beach Resort will be able to attend.
"Seating space is available only for those who have pre-registered," a release from Berry's office stated. Hotel regulations, it said, call for "strict adherence to the guidelines established regarding attendance."
A member of the senator's staff said that many students who had not pre-registered had contacted the office in recent days about attending the symposium, which will feature off-island speakers, panel discussions and student dialogue on the topic of "Sexual Abstinence — A Health Choice."
The symposium will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Students who are registered should be at the resort ballroom by 7:30 a.m. Saturday.
