What should happen to students that fight on campus?
Mia Felix, 11th grader- I feel that it depends on how intense the fight and how and why the fight was started. If weapons are involved students should get suspended or tried at a student court. If someone gets stabbed, the person who did it should be arrested and the law will deal with the matter. For minor crimes let them clean the cafeteria, or maybe the gym.
Ms. George, Monitor- I feel the students should be tried as adults for committing major crimes such as killing and stabbing, especially on school campuses. For minor crimes, there should be a student court to determine the punishment of the student(s).
Janice Mathias, former student/parent – I feel that the school shouldn’t stand for any kind of disrespect and fighting. Students that are disrespectful or fight in school should be suspended or receive some kind of detention as punishment. Students should also be expelled for chronic obscene verbal language or fighting.
Alister Paterson, 12th grader- I feel that punishment for fighting should be awarded according to the reasons for the fighting and the effects of it.
Both stories should be heard and carefully examined by adults and students.
The decision should be made by the student court on who should get penalized.
