Local businesses and individuals interested in selling their wares via the Internet are invited to workshops being conducted by eKalaloo.com, the on-line division of Kalaloo LLC, a Maryland-based company formed to market the goods, services and culture of the Caribbean in the global marketplace. Founder John Engerman, a native Virgin Islander, says when visitors to the region purchase island products, they later find "that there is no venue to replenish that supply once they return to their homes."
The company will offer Caribbean entrepreneurs a way to showcase and sell their wares without incurring the costs of developing and maintaining a commercial web site. Representatives will visit St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix to make informational presentations that are being sponsored by the V.I. Council on the Arts. The schedule:
St. Thomas — 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, in Palms Court Harbourview.
St. John — 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, at the St. John School of the Arts.
St. Croix — 6 p.m. Thursday, March 9, in Gertrude's Restaurant.
