'GATEWAY COMMUNITY' MEETING IS THURSDAY

Cruz Bay is a "gateway" to the V.I. National Park, which makes it potentially eligible for planning assistance from the Interior Deparment for town enhancements relevant to the large numbers of people who spend time in the town in connection with their visit to the park.
To qualify for the National Park Service's Gateway Community Program to create and implement a town plan for sustainable growth, representatives of all segments of the community must agree that they want to take part.
A group seeking to rally this commitment will host a second public meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 24, in the Legislature Building in Cruz Bay. All interested parties are encouraged to attend.
Samples of what a comparable Gateway Community, Sitka, Alaska, has accomplished and other materials about the program's offerings are available for viewing at the V.I. Community Foundation office in the Tradewinds Building across the street from the Elaine I. Sprauve Library. For more information, call 693-9410.
