PHONES STILL NOT WORKING AT FINANCE

Though, to all reports, the Y2K critter left the island without a scratch, to speak of, this is not the case at the Department of Finance.
The department's phone system has not been functioning normally since Jan. 3, according to switchboard operator Stephanie Rabsatt.
"It's harrassing," Rabsatt said.
None of the voice-mail works, she said, so all calls are directed back to the switchboard.
Because of the overload on the switchboard, it can take several minutes to get an answer when calling the department.
"They are working on it," Rabsatt said, but she had no date when the work would be completed.
Calls to the office of Roy McFarlane, director of the V.I. Office of Information Technology's Y2K Task Force were not returned.
