ST. CROIX IS NOT A ‘FOREIGN’ COUNTRY

Dear Source:
I couldn't agree more with the reader from Chicago. It's sad that most people have no education about the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Most folks I have run into have no idea that the islands are a U.S. territory. I actually got into an argument with a postmaster that St. Croix is NOT a foreign country and that I did not need special postage to send a letter there.
I also ran into a self-proclaimed "geography buff" who informed me that the V.I. consists of two islands – not three and they are located somewhere off the coast of Venezuela.
Either I have run into really misinformed folks or maybe we need some education here. It seems the Danes got the message OK, now how about the States? Lets let people know how and why these beautiful islands became a part of the U.S. So instead of tourists visiting other islands let them come to America’s Paradise!
