– For the Junior Mance Trio jazz concert rescheduled for tonight in Tillett Gardens, guests are welcome to wear jeans, sweats and waterproof shoes. The tarps and tents are up "and if you really want to keep the rain away, bring ponchos and umbrellas, too!" producer Rhoda Tillett says. Tickets from last night's canceled concert on St. John will be honored. See Things to do for details.
– The Coki Point Triathlon (swimming, running and trash collecting) that had been scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 20, has been postponed due to heavy surf on Coki Beach; a new date will be announced.
– The Board of Directors of the League of Women Voters on St. Thomas and St. John has postponed their monthly board meeting schedules for Saturday until Dec. 4.
– Cyril E. King Airport reopened at 11:15 a.m. Friday. V.I. Port Authority spokesperson Shirley Smith said winds are between 12 and 26 knots with continuing turbulence. Smith said though the airport is open the traveling public must contact the airlines for specific flight information. The Port Authority will continue to monitor wind conditions.
– John McCarthy of WSVI-TV/Channel 8 says the St. Croix-based ABC affiliate's transmitter on Blue Mountain is out of operation and one of the two satellite dishes at the Sunny Isle studios flopped over when a pole snapped and broke a wall; however, he says damage is not extensive, and "we could be up and running soon."
– Brenda Boone, general manager of American Airlines, reported that American will not be flying into or out of St. Thomas on Friday.
– The Jubilation! Caribbean Gospel Concert scheduled for Friday is canceled, but Saturday night's concert will go on as scheduled. See Things to do for details.
– The meeting of the Democratic Committee of the Virgin Islands scheduled for Saturday morning has been postponed.
– The Artists' Studios Open House scheduled for Friday is canceled.
– The St. Thomas-St. John Arts Council annual meeting, which was postponed due to Hurricane Jose and rescheduled for Thursday, is once again postponed, to a date to be announced.
– Normal operations will resume on the UVI St. Thomas campus Friday. Resident students may return to the dormitories as of 4 p.m. Thursday. Call 693-1016 for updates.
– Classes and business operations will resume on the UVI St. Croix campus on Monday, Nov. 22. Essential workers are to report to work to assist with cleanup as soon as the curfew is lifted; other employees are to report to work Monday. – The two Third World concerts scheduled for Saturday night at the Reichhold Center will go on as scheduled. See Things to do for details.
– The opening of "Kirnon’s Kingdom" at the UVI Little Theater has been postponed from Friday to Saturday night; the final performance will be Tuesday, Nov. 23, instead of Monday, Nov. 22.
