MOVIE PREMIER TO BENEFIT AMERICAN RED CROSS

St. Thomas can get a view of contemporary Vietnam for one night only at the Red Cross fund-raiser viewing of "Three Seasons"8:30 p.m.,Wednesday, Sept. 22. at Caribbean Cinemas new Market Square East location.
Pricilla Hintz, fund-raising chairman for the event, is very enthusiastic, "We are expecting a good crowd," she said. "Three Seasons" is the only film to be shot by an American crew in Vietnam since the war, and the first to be acted in Vietnamese by Vietnamese actors. "It took home three awards at this year’s Sundance Film Festival," she said, "And that’s a first." The prestigious festival was founded by actor Robert Redford and honors independent film makers.
"Three Seasons"tells the stories of four Vietnamese passed over by the "improvements" of western progress, and is said to be a touching portrayal of these four characters as they face Vietnam’s changing culture.
The showing will be preceded by a cocktail reception at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 and will be available at the door, or next week at the following locations: Red Cross’s Nisky Center offices, Chamber of Commerce on Main Street, Ace Hardward in Red Hook and both MSI stores at Ft. Mylner and the Sub Base.
