WEED AND SEED CULTURAL FAIR

A health and cultural fair will take place Saturday in Grove Place, St. Croix — a community designated by the U.S. Attorney's Office last year as a "Weed and Seed" revitalization site.
The fair will be held at the Eulalie Rivera Elementary School from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. The fair is free and open to all residents.
The health fair will offer breast cancer screening, pap smear examinations, prostate cancer examinations, blood pressure and cholesterol testing, diabetes and glaucoma examinations, sight and hearing tests, cardio-vascular examinations and HIV/AIDS screenings.
It is sponsored by the U.S. Attorney's Office, the V.I. Department of Health, various community organizations and the Grove Place Weed and Seed Steering Committee.
Grove Place is one of two weed and seed sites in the Virgin Islands. The other is the Bovoni Housing Community on St. Thomas. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, the goal of weed and seed is to first "weed out" violent crime, gang activity and drug trafficking and then, "seed" the targeted community with social and economic revitalization.
