The attorney for a St. Thomas man charged with drug possession asked the Territorial Court on Thursday to allow a fingerprint analysis of the drugs confiscated when his client was arrested by Narcotics Strike Force agents in April 1998, according to Radio One News.
In a pre-trial conference, attorney Kenth Rogers asked Judge Ishmael Meyers to fingerprint a vial containing 99 crack rocks to determine if his client, Desie Henry, handled the drugs that NSF agents alleged were in his pocket, Radio One reported.
Rogers also requested a suppression hearing, which Meyers scheduled for Aug. 19. According to Radio One, Meyers appeared a bit angered by delays in the case.
"This case has lingered since April of last year and will be disposed of by the end of the year," Meyers said. "Henry was allegedly found in possession of 11 grams of marijuana and a vial containing 2.8 grams of crack cocaine."
Meyers took over the case after Territorial Court Judge Soraya Diase recused herself.
Henry and another man were arrested April 24, 1998, by NSF agents who allegedly spotted the pair smoking marijuana near a building of the Oswald Harris Court public housing community.
