TERRITORY ISSUES RFP FOR ADVERTISING AGENCY

As an integral part of the development of the U.S. Virgin Islands' new marketing plan, the territory's Department of Tourism is presently conducting an advertising review.
The review will allow the Department of Tourism to select the best partner for its Fiscal Year 2000 marketing initiatives, which begin on October 1, 1999. Billings for the account are estimated to be $6 million per fiscal year.
The Tourism Department has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) to assist in the selection of an advertising agency. The RFP asks all interested agencies to respond to 25 questions that will provide information about their present accounts, travel industry experience, possible conflicts and other established criteria.
From these responses, Tourism will narrow its review to include only the most qualified agencies. These agencies will then be invited to present creative work to Tourism. The Department's advertising agency will be selected from this pool of presenters.
Advertising for the USVI Tourism Department is presently handled by New York- based Lowe & Partners/SMS. Lowe has been invited to participate in the current advertising review.
To request a copy of the RFP, interested advertising agencies should contact Olga Myers of the USVI Department of Property and Procurement at 340-774-0828. Completed RFPs must be returned to the Department of Property and Procurement by 4:00 p.m. (EST) on July 15, 1999.
