YOUTH SUMMER THEATER STARTS

Reichhold's Youth Theatre, a company of kids that evolved from a year- ago summer program at the Little Theatre on the University of the Virgin Islands campus, begins its second year June 14, when the new summer session begins.
The program is open to students ages 10 to 17 who have a background or an Interest in the performing and/or visual arts. Classes will meet Monday- Thursday from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Little Theatre under the leadership of founding director and UVI speech faculty member Andrew Heller, assisted by Denise Humphreys, drama teacher at Charlotte Amalie High School. The six-week program will culminate with Performances at the end of July of a production put together by the students themselves — scripting, acting, set design and construction, lighting and sound, directing assistance and everything else it takes to "produce" a show.
For the first time, a select number of the company members will be accepted into and advanced acting techniques class. These students — a maximum of 10 — must be at least 14 years of age. They will meet for an additional hour and a half after each company class, with an additional week of work at the end of the session.
Enrollment in the basic program is limited to 15 youngsters and tuition is $300. For those in the advanced drama class, there is an additional $100
cost. To learn more, call 693-1566.
