The Water and Power Authority has restored three of its four desalination plants to service and expects to begin limited pumping of potable water from 5 a.m. until 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday.
The potable water system has been on gravity feed since last week, leaving most potable water customers high and dry. Gravity feed does not work at higher elevations.
Addelita Cancryn Junior High School teachers staged a sit-in Thursday to protest conditions at the school that were exacerbated by lack of water.
A release from WAPA said they would spend the weekend trying to rebuild its depleted water storage levels which were depleted due to the shut down of the desalination plants.
The system will remain on gravity feed throughout the weekend, including East End locations that are severed by the Donoe Tank.
The limited pumping periods will continue until the supply of water is rebuilt.
