SHOOTING MARS VILLAGE OPENING

A shooting very early Tuesday morning marred the otherwise record-breaking opening of Carnival Village.
The incident, which occurred at approximately 1:15 a.m. at Carnival Village's "Champagne Court," resulted in the death of the shooting victim, according to WVWI news.
There had been no official report from the Police Department as of 6:30 a.m., but Radio One, which had an affiliate station's personnel on site at the time of the shooting, said three shots were fired, striking the victim in the head and neck.
Two suspects reportedly were apprehended by police near Beltjen Place.
An eyewitness said it appeared that the suspects were waiting for the victim, whom they shot as he entered the Village.
With the high level of security at the Village, another witness said it was surprising this could happen, according to WVWI.
