DAILY NEWS CLAIMS THEY SCOOPED PROSSER DEAL

Daily News Executive Editor J. Lowe Davis said her embarrassment over being "scooped" on other stories about Daily News owner Jeffrey Prosser made her determined not to be beat out on this one. (See story below "Daily News says Prosser ‘bailing out V.I.'")
She said Thursday's story came about from good journalistic investigation.
"…we did what all good journalists do — we looked at our calendar and noticed that it was about time for Jeffrey Prosser to disclose his plans for Carambola. So we began calling people who might be able to tell us."
As reported in St. Thomas Source on Thursday, the deal for Prosser to buy Carambola has not actually closed yet. Ed Crouch, spokesman for Innovative Communications, told the Source it was expected to close in April.
