Sen. Judy M. Gomez wants to establish gun-free school zones as a way to stem campus violence.
Gomez has asked that legislation similar to the drug-free school zone law be drafted to make it a crime to carry, possess or exhibit an unlicensed firearm within 1,000 feet of a school.
