DPW INSTALLING TRAFFIC COUNTERS IN SOLBERG

Automatic traffic counters are about to be installed on St. Thomas' Solberg Road (Route 40).
"The federally funded program will address the required highway statistics and traffic volume data island-wide on a continual basis," said acting Public Works Commissioner Harold G. Thompson Jr.
The information will be used as a planning tool. The statistics will be available for commercial and residential developers.
Traffic counters will be placed on both sides of Solberg Road — the spot chosen as a testing station — 24 hours a day.
Though the counters won't disrupt the normal flow of traffic, Thompson's release said, motorists should exercise "extreme caution" and reduce their speed to assist Public Works employees in installing the traffic counting equipment.
