SENATOR WANTS OVERSIGHT ON Y2K

Sen. Donald "Ducks" Cole has asked Sen. Lorraine Berry, chair of the Finance Committee, to hold monthly hearings on the progress of the Y2K program.
Cole asked for a list of lead people on the project, a copy of the loan agreements, a list of expenditures to date and a variety of other documentation that would help identify progress on the project.
He asked that a meeting to review the government's progress be called as soon as possible and suggested that hearings also be scheduled for V.I. Water and Power Authority, West Indian Company Ltd. and Government Employees Retirement System to measure their progress.
Cole said Y2K compliance is a "life and death" matter and that the advancement toward compliance must be monitored.
